My name is Stephanie Madewell, and I am a reader, writer, and editor living in a stone house in northeastern Ohio.
This newsletter is a free-form catalog of what I’ve read lately, which ranges from stories about mathematicians to books about moths, rocks, false gods, lonely sailors, mushrooms, and novels, bad and good. I publish it whenever I have something worthwhile to share, and it usually includes links to book discoveries and recent blog posts. (Long ago, when the internet was a smaller place, I started a blog called even*cleveland; it’s my online commonplace book, a compilation of whatever catches my eye, plus an idiosyncratic array of gift guides and imaginary outfits. )
Work-wise, I get paid to develop and edit artful books, curious magazines, and other items for Broccoli. I also collaborate with authors to bring books into the world.
